Exciting developments are unfolding in the Ohio State Buckeyes’ recruitment efforts. While the team eagerly anticipated the commitment announcement from four-star defensive tackle Jarquez Carter on Thursday, another significant update emerged as a five-star offensive lineman revealed his commitment date.
Ranked as the second-best offensive tackle by 247 Sports and the fifth-best interior offensive lineman by On3, Josh Petty, a 6’4″ and 265-pound prospect hailing from Georgia, has disclosed to Chad Simmons of On3 that he will declare his commitment decision on August 12th.

The highly skilled offensive lineman will be deliberating among the Ohio State Buckeyes, Florida State Seminoles, Tennessee Volunteers, Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets, and the Stanford Cardinal.
Although the Buckeyes are among the top five contenders, current indications heavily favor the Seminoles. On3’s recruiting projection model assigns Florida State a 74.3 percent likelihood of securing Petty’s commitment, while Georgia Tech follows at 6.2 percent, Tennessee at 5.3 percent, Ohio State at 3 percent, and Stanford at the lowest position with a 2.2 percent chance.
As of now, there is a single Crystal Ball forecast on 247 Sports by Noles247 contributor Zach Blostein, who positioned his prediction for Florida State on June 12th.
