The Houston Cougars were unable to return home with a win after losing 42-12 to the Kansas Jayhawks on Saturday at Arrowhead Stadium.
After starter Zeon Chriss left the game with a quad/hamstring injury, Donovan Smith came in and went 15 of 24 for 173 passing yards, with two touchdowns and three picks.
Jalon Daniels had three passing touchdowns to help Kansas snap their five-game losing streak.
“When you don’t win [the turnover battle], you’re going to have a tough time winning the ball game,” head coach Willie Fritz said.
Fritz joins “The Matt Thomas Show with Ross” ahead of the Cougars’ Homecoming matchup against the Utah Utes. “They’re a strong run team,” and their defense “doesn’t read and react… they’re trying to make something happen,” Fritz said.
The Cougars will look to earn their third win of the season and second against a Big 12 opponent.
