The Detroit Pistons and free agent forward Tobias Harris have reached an agreement on a two-year, $52 million contract, sources informed ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski on Monday.
Harris, who turns 32 on July 15, joined the Philadelphia 76ers during the 2019 trade deadline after being acquired by the Los Angeles Clippers. He had previously been traded in the middle of the season four times since joining the team as the 19th overall choice in the 2011 NBA draft.
However, following the trade, Harris settled down with the 76ers, signing a five-year, $180 million contract that he just finished this season to become an unrestricted free agent.
Harris shot 48.7% from the field and 35.3% from three last year while averaging 17.2 points, 6.5 rebounds, and 3.1 assists while he was in Philadelphia. Having appeared in at least 70 games in four of the previous five years, he has been a steady, dependable presence for the 76ers.
Thanks in part to his availability and consistency, Harris is one of just 15 players with at least 6,000 points, 2,000 rebounds, and 1,000 assists over the last five seasons.
