The Washington Commanders were one game away from going to the Super Bowl in Jayden Daniels’ rookie season and the first year of their new regime.
Now, they enter a crucial offseason as many around the league expect them to be aggressive to improve their roster and try and take yet another step forward in 2025. A new A to Z Sports mock draft has the Commanders adding an elite athlete to Dan Quinn’s defense.
I'm just like ESPN and The Athletic: I also released a mock draft today and it's a fun one 🔗⬇️ pic.twitter.com/1TtuACgV2g

Commanders land Georgia edge rusher Myekl Williams in a new mock draft

Georiga’s Mykel Williams didn’t test at the NFL Scouting Combine, but his measurables impressed teams. And many around the league expect him to test off the charts at Georgia’s pro day.
The Commanders’ defense needs to find difference makers at edge rusher this offseason, and Williams could be just that for Dan Quinn. Williams is expected by many to be a first-round pick, and some even view him as a top 15 pick. If he is on the board at pick 29 for the Commanders, they’d be foolish not to give him real consideration.
His college production isn’t where some teams would prefer a first-round edge rusher to have. But he showed improvements each season, and it’s safe to assume his best football is still in front of him as he makes the jump to the NFL. If the Commanders went this route, I think it would be important to add a veteran to play in front of Williams early in his career and give Quinn and his staff the chance to develop his skills and help him reach his full potential.
Mykel Williams (#13) has a lot of uptapped potential as a pass rusher, but he is already a very good run defender. As both an edge and as a 3-4 DE like here. pic.twitter.com/7Za4SEvKHy
