Coach Brad Brownell and his coaching staff Confirmed A Huge Commitment On a significant targeted Player
The Clemson Tigers men’s basketball team has been actively utilizing the transfer portal recently, and this trend continued on Friday with the announcement that Carter Welling, a former player for Utah Valley, has committed to join the Tigers.
Welling, who was named to the second team All-WAC and earned the title of WAC Defensive Player of the Year, was a significant target for head coach Brad Brownell and his coaching staff. Standing at 6’10”, Welling averaged 13.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game last season, playing a crucial role on both offense and defense for his previous team.
After visiting Clemson last weekend, Welling showed a strong inclination to join the Tigers, and just five days later, he made his decision official

Welling’s commitment is a great boost for Coach Brownell, marking an already successful week in the transfer portal for the Tigers, who have also secured two significant additions in Nick Davidson and former Tiger RJ Godfrey.

These new players are especially timely for Clemson, which has experienced significant roster changes following their first-round upset in the NCAA Tournament.
With Welling joining Davidson and Godfrey, the Tigers appear to be in a much stronger position as they head into the offseason
