And just like that, a third potential target for the Chargers in this year’s free agency period has been taken off the table.
On Tuesday morning, it was reported that the Dallas Cowboys have signed defensive tackle Osa Odghizuwa a new four-year, $80 million deal with $58 million guaranteed. With this latest deal, the Chargers will no longer have a shot at wide receiver Tee Higgins, offensive guard Trey Smith, and now Odighizuwa with the former two having been tagged by their current teams.

Odighizuwa is coming off a year where he posted a career-high 47 tackles and 4.5 sacks to go with five tackles for loss. The 6’2, 280-pounder was arguably the top defensive tackle on the market and the Chargers could have used a portion of their massive cap space this offseason to get a deal done.
Now, he sticks with the Cowboys as the Bolts will look elsewhere to reinforce a defensive interior that stands to get better in year two under Jim Harbaugh.
