Cam Ward Sends Bold Message to $7.3B NFL Franchise as Shedeur Sanders’ Raiders Lean Boosts Miami QB Case

As the 2024 college football season nears its conclusion and after the Heisman buzz, one finalist has made a significant impact. While everyone is focused on Shedeur Sanders and his potential future with teams like the Raiders, Cowboys, or Giants, Cam Ward has taken matters into his own hands with a bold declaration designed to capture the NFL’s attention. His message is clear: “Catch up or get left behind.”

Ward expressed that he is focused on joining a team that plays with toughness, talent, and heart. However, he is aware that the NFL draft often favors teams with the worst records. Despite this, the New York Giants—with their $ 7.3 billion legacy—have caught his interest. On December 15, Ward made waves with his statement shared by Yahoo Sports: “If Joe Schoen wants to come get me, he knows best.” This is not just a show of confidence; it’s an open invitation to the Giants’ GM. With Shedeur Sanders reportedly eyeing the Raiders, Ward’s strategic move might just lead him on a clearer path to New York.

The Giants are having a tough season, currently sitting at a disappointing 2-11, which positions them for a likely high draft pick, potentially among the top selections. Cam Ward, the Heisman finalist who enjoyed an impressive season with 293 completions out of 435 attempts, totaling 4,123 yards, 36 touchdowns, and only 7 interceptions, is expected to be a top NFL draft pick. His desire to play for the Giants indicates that he still believes in the team, despite their struggles.

The Giants are desperately seeking to fill their quarterback position, especially after releasing Daniel Jones and now deciding between Drew Lock and Tommy DeVito this season. Cam Ward’s public statement could offer a much-needed boost for the franchise.

There’s more to this developing situation, as Cam Ward is not the only quarterback interested in the Giants. The team itself has shown significant interest in acquiring him. It has been reported that the Giants are bringing in Hurricanes OC Shannon Dawson, signaling their serious intentions to help kickstart Cam Ward’s NFL career. However, the question remains: how will this all play out if Shedeur Sanders also enters the mix?

Cam Ward’s recent comments clearly indicate that he envisions the New York Giants as a potential NFL team for him next year. While Shedeur Sanders has been surrounded by rumors, particularly regarding the Raiders, Ward’s path seems promising. However, Sanders may not have it as easy; he’s rumored to be “pulling an Eli,” meaning he could refuse to play for certain teams, like the Giants or Browns, if drafted. This was highlighted by the NFL Rookie Watch X account, which reported a “high likelihood” of Sanders declining to play for those teams.

In response to the rumors, Deion Sanders, aka Coach Prime, defended his son by stating, “A lie don’t care who tells it. Please stop trying to become relevant by misrepresenting my son.” This effectively dismisses the speculation about Shedeur not wanting to join the Giants and has intensified the competition for a spot on the team.

Both the Raiders and Giants are struggling at quarterback, heightening their competition for the best option available. The Raiders replaced Jimmy Garoppolo with Gardner Minshew, who has struggled this season, throwing more interceptions than touchdowns. In addition, Aidan O’Connell hasn’t shown he’s a long-term solution for the team. Similarly, the Giants, facing the end of the Daniel Jones era, are in desperate need of an upgrade at quarterback. With both teams currently at 2-11, it raises the question of which one will secure the higher draft pick and have a better chance of landing their preferred quarterback.
