Calgary Stampeders transfer DL star to the league suspended list

The Calgary Stampeders have placed defensive lineman Hamilcar Rashed Jr. on the league suspension list as of Monday, according to the CFL Transactions page.

Standing at six feet two inches and weighing 251 pounds, Rashed Jr. is a 26-year-old from Phoenix, Arizona. He initially signed with the New York Jets as an undrafted free agent on May 3, 2021. During his rookie season, he played in one game, recording one tackle and one assist. Rashed Jr. has also had brief tenures with the Pittsburgh Steelers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and Seattle Seahawks. The Stampeders signed him on May 20, 2024, but he has yet to record any stats in the two preseason games he participated in, as he has spent the 2024 season on the practice squad.

In college, Rashed Jr. played four seasons at Oregon State from 2017 to 2020, accumulating 143 tackles (91 solo, 52 assists), 36 tackles for loss, 16.5 sacks, six pass breakups, four forced fumbles, one fumble recovery, and one blocked kick across 43 games. In 2019, he earned Second Team All-PAC 12 Conference honors.
