Calgary Flames ink a one-year deal with standout forward Star

Drafted 26th overall by the Flames in 2019, Pelletier has faced challenges in securing a spot on the NHL roster.

In the past two seasons, he has participated in 37 NHL games, recording 10 points (3 goals and 7 assists).

At 23 years old and eligible for waivers, this season could be crucial for Pelletier’s future with the Flames. If he fails to secure a position in the NHL, there’s a chance he could be claimed by another team looking to take advantage.

However, with some departures from the Flames organization and Pelletier’s current health, this presents an excellent opportunity for him to prove himself.

As of September 13th, The Hockey News has positioned Pelletier as the fourth-line left winger heading into the 2024-25 season.

It’s important to note that he has a two-way contract, meaning his salary would decrease if he is sent down to the AHL.

Before joining the Flames, Pelletier spent four years in the QMJHL, racking up 275 points (107 goals and 168 assists) over 210 games while serving as captain for both the Moncton Wildcats and the Val-d’Or Foreurs.

CALGARY — On Friday, the Calgary Flames announced the signing of winger Jakob Pelletier to a one-year, two-way contract.

The deal carries an average annual value of US$800,000.

Pelletier, a 23-year-old from Quebec City, spent last season alternating between the Flames and the Calgary Wranglers in the American Hockey League.

During his time with the Flames, he recorded one goal and two assists in 13 games.

Calgary selected the five-foot-nine, 170-pound forward in the first round, 26th overall, of the 2019 NHL Draft.
