Caitlin Clark Sends Strong Message to Iowa Fans Ahead of Crucial Fixture vs. UCLA

Iowa women’s basketball is set to host the No. 3 UCLA Bruins in a big conference matchup on Sunday. The Hawkeyes are just 18-8 and are ranked 11th in the Big Ten this season. That’s why Iowa alumna Caitlin Clark is rallying Iowa fans to get loud at Carver-Hawkeye Arena on social media.

In Iowa’s last game, they dropped an 86-78 heartbreaker in a near-upset in overtime against Ohio State on Monday. The Hawkeyes were riding high entering that game by winning six straight, including a key upset over USC, then-ranked No. 4.

Clark was in attendance at that game against the Trojans because her No. 22 jersey was sent up into the rafters to be retired.

According to Charlie Creme’s women’s bracketology, Iowa is projected to be the No. 8 seed in the NCAA tournament. The Big Ten leads the country with 13 teams projected into the tournament. Clark was a two-time AP Player of the Year at Iowa and four-time First-Team All-American (USBWA).

She finished her collegiate career as the all-time leader in points scored per game average, field goals made, three-pointers made, three-pointers attempted and points scored.

She was the No. 1 overall pick of the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft. Clark would go on to win WNBA Rookie of the Year.
