Buffalo Bills Face Another Heart-breaking Set Back as They Part Ways with A Legendary Player

One player who won’t be returning to the Buffalo Bills’ revamped edge rusher lineup in 2025 is veteran defensive end Casey Toohill. After spending one season with the Bills, Toohill has signed a one-year contract with the Houston Texans, as reported by KPRC2’s Aaron Wilson.

This move comes a year after Buffalo took a chance on the former seventh-round draft pick. During a rather unremarkable 2024 season with the Bills, Toohill appeared in 14 games, playing 249 defensive snaps in a rotational capacity. He recorded 1.0 sack, one pass deflection, and one fumble recovery. However, he was released from the 53-man roster in mid-December, after which he was added to the practice squad and did not participate in any of Buffalo’s three playoff games.

Leading up to the new league year, the Bills also released future Hall-of-Fame defensive end Von Miller due to salary cap issues, making Toohill the second departure from the edge rusher group, while Dawuane Smoot is still an unrestricted free agent.

In the meantime, Buffalo bolstered their defense by signing five-time Pro Bowl defensive end Joey Bosa to a one-year deal reportedly worth $ 12.6 million. They also made a deal with versatile defensive lineman Michael Hoecht, a former starter for the Los Angeles Rams, who can play both on the edge and inside.

Additionally, the Bills secured a long-term deal with first-round defensive end Greg Rousseau, who was entering his fifth-year option season. Rousseau, standing at 6-foot-7, received a four-year extension worth an estimated $ 80 million.

With Rousseau, Bosa, and Hoecht, the Bills’ edge rusher lineup has now expanded to five players, including former second-round pick AJ Epenesa and 2024 fifth-round pick Javon Solomon, both of whom are also under contract
