Bruins 27-years Player asked to be traded, Threatens go to Alberta if the Bruins don’t sign him

Jake DeBrusk has expressed discontentment during his time in Boston. He has made multiple requests to be traded, yet ultimately he has stayed with the Bruins.

In recent years, his situation has improved, and it appears that he has regained his joy in playing for this team. He holds a crucial role as a forward, and it’s evident that the team wishes to retain him.

Nevertheless, there is a possibility of this scenario unfolding by the conclusion of the season. DeBrusk’s status will change to that of an unrestricted free agent, and Pierre McGuire has connected him to potential moves with the Oilers and Flames.

Pierre McGuire – ” assures that regardless of whether it’s Edmonton or Calgary, the province of Alberta will provide exceptional care for him.”

Why is he so confident? Because the forward comes from Edmonton and recently played in Red Deer, Alberta during his last junior season. He also spent three preceding years playing with the Swift Broncos in Saskatchewan, not far from his home province. These connections make it understandable why Pierre McGuire believes Alberta will take good care of him. However, the question remains if Boston will let him go without any compensation. This is an important inquiry, especially considering that it might be the right time for DeBrusk to move away from a place where he hasn’t always had a strong emotional attachment.

In the current season, the 27-year-old winger has accumulated 25 points in 47 games. He is earning four million dollars until July 1. McGuire brought up the contracts of Drake Batherson (six years, 28.9 million) as a basis for comparison. Additionally, he mentioned the possibility of earning even more with the anticipated increase in the salary cap.

Chris Tanev potentially joining the Ottawa Senators?

Talking about the Calgary Flames, their current season is not meeting their expectations. However, before they start considering the 2024 free agents, they need to focus on their strategy for the trade deadline.

Are they going to sell players? They have already traded Nikita Zadorov, who is not expected to be traded again, earlier this year.

Chris Tanev is another player who might depart from Calgary and potentially join another Canadian team, such as the Ottawa Senators.

But, according to Elliotte Friedman’s observation, it might not happen this year. The insider doesn’t think that the Senators have completely abandoned the hope of signing him within the next two years.

Tanev, a 32-year-old defenseman who plays on the right side, is currently earning $3.5 million until the end of the upcoming season. If Ottawa intends to bring him to the team either this season or the next, they would need to negotiate a deal. The question arises whether the recent success of the team will convince the general manager to make the purchase. Only time will tell.

It is important to note that Tanev has a partial no-trade clause. The Senators will need compelling arguments to persuade him to join the team in their city.
