Broncos Talented wide receiver Cameron Camper has taken the spotlight with a significant news story
“After two months of speculation, the Cam Camper situation has reached a conclusion.
Camper, who was Boise State’s top receiver in the 2024 season, announced his intention to enter the NFL Draft in January. However, shortly after, he decided to withdraw from the draft and entered the transfer portal instead.
As a potential sixth-year senior for the 2025 season, Camper considered returning to college football due to an NCAA waiver that allows former junior college players additional eligibility. Cornerback A’Marion McCoy is utilizing the waiver to play for the Broncos in 2025 as a fifth-year senior.
According to Draft Diamonds, Camper was ultimately not granted a sixth year of eligibility and has now re-entered the NFL Draft. He is set to showcase his skills at Boise State’s upcoming Pro Day on Wednesday.
Last season, Camper was a key target for quarterback Maddux Madsen, making 58 catches for 903 yards and four touchdowns. In the College Football Playoff Fiesta Bowl against Penn State, he had three receptions for 66 yards.
Camper, a graduate of Lancaster High School in the Dallas–Fort Worth area, spent two seasons at Trinity Valley Community College before transferring to Indiana. During his two years with the Hoosiers, he accumulated 63 catches for 881 yards and three touchdowns.
After a coaching change at Indiana, Camper opted to enter the transfer portal again and subsequently joined Boise State. He played a pivotal role in helping the Broncos achieve a 12-2 overall record and secure a second consecutive Mountain West Conference title.
In Boise State’s run-heavy offense, Camper served as the Z receiver alongside Heisman Trophy finalist tailback Ashton Jeanty, who rushed for 2,601 yards and 29 touchdowns last season and is a promising NFL Draft prospect.
With starting X receiver Prince Strachan transferring to USC—having recorded 25 catches for 304 yards and one touchdown last season—the Broncos now need to fill that position.
Boise State does bring back slot receiver Latrell Caples (38 catches, 473 yards, five touchdowns), tight end Matt Lauter (47 catches, 619 yards, seven touchdowns), No. 4 receiver Austin Bolt (16 catches, 196 yards, four touchdowns), rising star Chris Marshall, and more.
“Receiver is a critical need that we are addressing right now, from recruiting to having current players step up,” said Boise State head coach Spencer Danielson ahead of spring practice. “We have high expectations for Latrell Caples, and Austin Bolt showed promise last season; there’s still potential for him to grow. Chase Penry and Ben Ford contributed significantly and need to keep developing. I’m optimistic about our receiving core
