Minnesota Lynx forward Napheesa Collier emerged as the standout MVP favorite in the WNBA general manager survey, claiming 67% of the vote. She was also acknowledged as the league’s top defensive player and ranked highly as both a forward and interior defender.
Breanna Stewart, another former UConn star, also received notable attention—tying with Caitlin Clark as the player who causes the most defensive adjustments from opposing teams.
Elsewhere in the survey, Dijonai Carrington was named the league’s top perimeter defender, while Stewart continued to earn respect as one of the most well-rounded players, placing in several categories including best forward and most versatile defender. Across the board, UConn alumni made a strong impression.
Looking ahead, the Huskies’ impact remains significant. Paige Bueckers was the overwhelming favorite to win Rookie of the Year with 73% of the vote and ranked just behind Seattle’s Dominique Malonga in five-year projections. On the coaching front, GMs listed UConn legend Sue Bird among the top retired players they’d like to see transition to the sidelines.
Although Caitlin Clark was a central figure in conversations about the league’s future, UConn’s deep-rooted influence in the WNBA stood out—from current stars to rising talent and potential future coaches, the Huskies continue to shape the league at every level.
