Breaking: Winnipeg Blue Bombers QB Star has torn ligaments

It seems that Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Chris Streveler may be finished for the season, and potentially beyond that. He exited the Banjo Bowl in the third quarter after sustaining a knee injury.

Three days later, Streveler shared on Instagram that he has torn ligaments in his knee.”This weekend marked the first time in my life that I went down on a football field and stayed down,” Streveler wrote. “I tore three of the four major ligaments in my knee.”

In the third quarter of the Banjo Bowl, Winnipeg Blue Bombers quarterback Chris Streveler was in the process of throwing a pass when Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Miles Brown hit him near the knee area. The hit left Streveler on the ground, clutching his left knee in pain.

Three days after the injury, Streveler posted on Instagram about the extent of the damage, revealing that he had torn three of the four major ligaments in his knee. Despite the severity of the injury and the long road to recovery ahead, Streveler remained positive, stating, “Although this will be a long road to recovery, this isn’t the end of my journey. I will attack this rehab with the same relentless work ethic and positive attitude that I bring day in and day out. See y’all back out on the field soon.

The hit by Brown, who was also involved in a controversial hit on Bombers starting QB Zach Collaros the previous week, sparked outrage from some Bombers players who felt it was a dirty play. However, opinions were mixed, with some teammates sympathizing with Brown and not considering the hit intentionally dirty.

Streveler, a fan favorite in Winnipeg, has been mostly used in short-yardage situations this season behind starter Collaros. He started one game while Collaros was injured and has 343 yards passing and 272 yards rushing, while scoring 10 touchdowns in 13 games. His absence will be a significant blow to the Bombers’ offense as they head into their bye week.

Chris Streveler’s Injury and Impact.

Chris Streveler, a beloved figure among Winnipeg Blue Bombers fans, has suffered a significant injury that may sideline him for the remainder of the season and potentially longer. The 29-year-old quarterback left the Banjo Bowl in the third quarter after taking a hit to his knee from Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive lineman Miles Brown.

Three days after the incident, Streveler revealed on Instagram that he had torn three of the four major ligaments in his knee. Despite the severity of the injury and the long road to recovery ahead, Streveler remains positive, stating, “Although this will be a long road to recovery, this isn’t the end of my journey. I will attack this rehab with the same relentless work ethic and positive attitude that I bring day in and day out. See y’all back out on the field soon.”

Streveler has primarily been used in short-yardage situations this season, serving as a backup to starting quarterback Zach Collaros. In 13 games, he has amassed 343 passing yards, 272 rushing yards, and 10 touchdowns. Streveler started one game while Collaros was injured.

Prior to this season, Streveler played for the Bombers in 2018 and 2019 before pursuing opportunities in the NFL with the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets. He returned to the Bombers this past offseason.

With Streveler sidelined, the Bombers will likely look to quarterback Terry Wilson, who is currently under contract, to fill the void. However, the team may also seek to add another quarterback to their roster before their next game following the bye week.

The loss of Streveler is a significant blow to the Bombers’ offense, as he has been a fan favorite and a valuable contributor to the team’s success. His positive attitude and relentless work ethic have made him a respected figure in the locker room and among the Winnipeg faithful.
