BREAKING: Unexpected news on QB Tua Tagovailo amid contract negotiations with the Dolphins.

As we approach mid-July, the Tua Tagovailoa contract crisis continues, with the parties unable to come to a long-term agreement. However, according to a recent report from ESPN’s Jeff Darlington, the two parties are still meeting in the hopes of reaching a long-term agreement before the 2024 NFL season begins.

“The most urgent is Tua Tagovailoa, to start with. The club is still working to complete that one with Tua, according to Darlington. “Now, when I was here reporting on this the last time, I mentioned that we weren’t quite to the point where Tua Tagovailoa thought we had reached market value to the point where they could get an interview.”

Darlington went on:

As training camp approaches, I can’t promise that a solution will be reached anytime soon, but I can assure you that talks have been ongoing ever since. They are still taking a very friendly stance in their attempts to finish this. By no means does it appear to be heading sideways. We’ll still have to wait and see if it’s completed in time for the season, in my opinion.

The 26-year-old Tagovailoa is unwavering in his belief that “the market is the market” and that he should be compensated accordingly. And after leading the NFL in passing yards and participating in all 17 games for the first time in his nascent NFL career, who could blame him for feeling that way? particularly in an era when quarterbacks like Trevor Lawrence and Jared Goff earned enormous salaries.

Additionally, it is his first significant chance to profit since being selected fifth overall in the 2020 NFL draft. I totally appreciate Tagovailoa’s and his agents’ desire to obtain him a record-breaking contract after a string of injuries ruined his career’s start.

In actuality, GM Chris Grier and VP of Football Brandon Shore must continue to prioritize the team’s needs over the interests of their star quarterback. Both parties are currently trying to “win” the talks, and if doing so would require their star quarterback to become a little irritated in the process in order to save money over time, then that will be their only option.

Until Tua Tagovailoa or the Miami Dolphins give a little bit more than the take, things will continue to stand still between these two teams. All I can hope for is that the Miami Dolphins of 2024 don’t have their season derailed by this argument by the time the regular season gets underway.
