The University of North Carolina (UNC) football program continues its focus on recruiting local talent from the Class of 2026, with a notable recruit whose family name is recognizable to NFL enthusiasts.
UNC’s recruiting efforts have been robust, with one of their recent scholarship offers going to an in-state prospect with a well-known surname. Three-star cornerback Camdin Portis took to social media to announce that he has received an offer from the UNC football program. Hailing from Charlotte, North Carolina, Portis is the son of former two-time NFL Pro Bowler and 2022 Offensive Rookie of the Year, Clinton Portis.

Standing at 6 feet tall and weighing 165 pounds, Portis is ranked as the 15th overall prospect in North Carolina for the 2026 recruiting class by futbolgazette. During his sophomore year at Myers Park High School, Portis showcased his skills with 18 tackles, 10 pass breakups, 2 interceptions, and a forced fumble.
His recruitment has gained momentum in recent months, with offers coming in from schools like UCLA, Penn State, Ole Miss, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Houston, and NC State. Additionally, Miami, his father’s alma mater, extended an offer to him on April 4.
UNC has now offered scholarships to 21 in-state prospects from the Class of 2026, underscoring their commitment to retaining top local talent. While it is still early in the recruiting process for this class, anticipation is high for increased activity in the coming months. The Tar Heels are poised to play a significant role in recruiting the state’s talented athletes as they aim to secure a strong roster for the future.
