BREAKING: UConn basketball superstar becomes the first college player to receive custom Nike sneakers

UConn superstar Paige Bueckers is set to create her own version of the Nike GT Hustle 3, marking another milestone in her incredible journey. As the first freshman to win national player of the year, she will also become the first college athlete to receive a custom sneaker from Nike, as reported by Sole Retriever.

Unlike a signature shoe, such as Breanna Stewart’s Stewie line from Puma, Bueckers’ design will be a unique colorway of the Nike GT Hustle 3, crafted by her own hand.

The sneaker is expected to feature multiple colors, incorporate the area codes 860 for Connecticut and 612 for Minnesota, and showcase “Paige’s personal mantra along with her nickname.” Set for release on September 12, it will be priced at $ 190.

Bueckers joined Nike as an athlete in September 2023, adding the brand to an impressive list of NIL partnerships that includes Gatorade, Dunkin’, Bose, and Nerf. She also received a custom water bottle when she became Gatorade’s first college athlete signed.
