BREAKING: Tony Elliott and the Virginia football reportedly confirm stunning news addressing the Hoos’ biggest problem

The ‘Hoos pick up a transfer from the Crimson Tide. Following a whole day without any transfer commitments, the Virginia Cavaliers are back in the portal with a bang as Alabama defensive lineman Hunter Osborne is reportedly coming to Charlottesville. CBS Sports’ Matt Zenitz first reported the news of Osborne’s commitment.

The 6-foot-4, 260-pound Alabama native was ranked as the 21st best defensive lineman in the country coming out of high school in 2023. He was a four star prospect who had numerous SEC offers. Out of high school, he was heralded for his plus athleticism as an edge rusher who had the potential to also provide an impact on as a rusher on the interior as well.

After redshirting in 2023, Osborne appeared in three games for the Crimson Tide this past fall. He played in blowouts against Mercer, Missouri, and Wisconsin and totaled three tackles and one pass deflection. Evidently, he was stuck behind a loaded Alabama defensive line and is coming to Charlottesville to see immediate playing time.

With three years of eligibility remaining, Osborne could be a building block for a Virginia pass rush, which has been the weakness of John Rudzinski’s defense for the past two years. Osborne is Virginia’s third transfer commit on the defensive line and the second edge rusher after Elon defensive end Cazeem Moore and Fresno State defensive tackle Jacob Holmes.

Tony Elliott and the Virginia staff have hit the 2024 transfer portal hard, and all signs point to the end being nowhere near. There are still needs on the offensive line that they have to address, and they have a couple of visits lined up at that position.

Whoever gave this staff the Power 5 transfer portal password will regret it. With a boatload of NIL money and brand-new facilities, Elliott is undoubtedly a force to be reckoned with.
