Breaking: Tennessee’s Star Defensive Player Changes Mind And Will Not Enter The Transfer Portal After A Report Came Out 24 Hours Ago That He Would

The Tennessee Volunteers will commence their SEC schedule on September 21st against a fresh adversary, Oklahoma, but they will have to do so without one of their defensive linemen who was expected to join the transfer portal.

Yesterday’s Report: Jayson Jenkins to Enter Transfer Portal

A report surfaced on Monday indicating that defensive lineman Jayson Jenkins intends to enter the spring transfer portal in search of a new college football program to join.

Jenkins, a three-star recruit from the 2022 class, featured in six games last season and recorded only four tackles. Initially, it appeared that he would not be returning to Knoxville, but within 24 hours of the report, he entered the transfer portal.

Jenkins’ Decision Flip

Jayson Jenkins, a Tennessee defensive lineman, had initially intended to enter the NCAA transfer portal but later changed his mind, as reported by 247sports.com and Ryan Callahan. Jenkins never officially submitted the necessary paperwork to join the portal before deciding to stay at Tennessee.

Tennessee’s Leading Tackler Departs for Transfer Portal

Although Jenkins’ contribution of only four tackles last season may not appear significant, maintaining depth along the defensive line is crucial. The Volunteers recently lost their leading tackler, Elijah Herring, to the transfer portal, leaving them with one less player on the defensive side of the ball. Losing another player would further weaken their defensive unit.
