Two key players are out for Kings camp

As the 2024-25 NBA season approaches, the Kings have already been hit by the injury bug with training camp just around the corner.
Sacramento announced that veteran forward Trey Lyles sustained a left groin strain during an offseason workout and will be re-evaluated in about three weeks. His condition will be updated at an appropriate time.
This injury means Lyles will miss Sacramento’s training camp, which begins on Tuesday.
Lyles faced injury difficulties during the 2023-24 season, missing the first 13 games due to a left calf strain and an additional two weeks in March because of a sprained MCL in his left knee. After playing 74 games in the 2022-23 season, he appeared in only 58 games last season.
At 28 years old, Lyles has been crucial off the bench for the Kings because of his size and strength, serving as one of the vocal leaders on a young team with championship aspirations.
In his two full seasons with the Kings, Lyles averaged 7.4 points on 45.3% shooting from the field and 37.3% from three-point range, along with 4.2 rebounds and 1.0 assists in 132 games.
Additionally, new Kings point guard Jordan McLaughlin will also miss the first training camp with his new team. McLaughlin suffered a grade 2 right ankle sprain during an offseason workout, which the team announced on Friday, and will be re-evaluated in approximately two weeks.
