Just in: Purdue bolsters defensive tackle position with the addition of a fast-rising star from Ohio

Purdue football recently gained an important addition to its future, with the commitment of  a defensive tackle from Robert Taft High School in Ohio.

The Class of 2025 prospect chose Purdue over Wisconsin, Indiana, and 19 other schools. Previously, the 6-foot-3-inch, 294-pound standout had listed his top eight schools, which included Toledo, Boston College, West Virginia, Miami (OH), Pittsburgh, Cincinnati, and Indiana.

“Pavey expressed that what caught his attention was the fact that the coaching staff at Purdue are down-to-earth, industrious individuals similar to his father. He feels they can understand him and appreciate the value of striving for everything you achieve,”

After receiving an offer at camp last year, Pavey worked diligently to nurture his connection with the Purdue football coaching staff, particularly Coach Brick Haley and Coach Preston Gordon.

“I have a strong bond with Coach Haley and Coach Preston. They are my allies through and through. We communicate frequently. Coach Brick appreciates my versatility on the line. He mentioned, ‘you are more valuable if you can play inside out,’ and I possess that ability. I am a force on the front line,” Pavey expressed.

During his junior year, Pavey tallied 46 tackles, nine tackles for loss, 7.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. He earned distinctions as First Team All-Southwest Ohio and First Team All-Greater Miami Conference.

The Class of ’25 prospect acknowledges his admiration for the direction of the Purdue football program under the leadership of Coach Ryan Walters.

“Absolutely, I can envision myself wearing those black and gold colors. Coach Walters is creating something extraordinary, just watch. He’s youthful, ambitious, and commands respect. I’m thrilled about it,” Pavey remarked.
