Breaking: Pair of Tennessee Vols players reportedly involved in major MLB News

A pair of former Tennessee Vols baseball players were reportedly involved in a major MLB trade deadline move on Wednesday afternoon.
According to multiple reports, the New York Mets traded former Vols RHP Blade Tidwell and former Vols OF Drew Gilbert to the San Francisco Giants for the RHP Tyler Rogers (the Mets also sent RHP Jose Butto to the Giants in the deal).

Tidwell was selected by the Mets in the second round of the 2022 MLB Draft. He made his MLB debut earlier this season. In total, Tidwell made four appearances (with two starts) for the Mets this season, pitching to a 9.00 ERA (thanks in part to some bad luck).
Gilbert, meanwhile, was acquired by the Mets in 2023 in a deal that sent future Hall of Famer Max Scherzer to the Texas Rangers. The former Tennessee outfielder hasn’t made his MLB debut yet, but he’s been on a tear in AAA recently.
