Oregon State reportedly confirms the departure of a top superstar, Lands With Southern Oregon
A walk-on quarterback who participated with Oregon State football for three years, is transferring to Southern Oregon.
Montiel, who entered the transfer portal in December, signed with the Raiders on Wednesday, the first day of the national signing period. Southern Oregon is an NAIA school that won a national title in 2014.

Montiel walked on at Oregon State after graduating from Marshfield High in 2022. Montiel didn’t play in a game during his three-year tenure.
The Beavers are looking for at least one more walk-on to help replace Montiel. OSU has four quarterbacks on its 2025 roster in Maalik Murphy, Kallen Gutridge, Gabarri Johnson and Tristan Ti’a, who is OSU is expected to announce will join the program during this signing period.
