BREAKING: Oregon State Reportedly Confirms the Departure of a Top Superstar

Oregon State football’s long-time quarterback has played his last snap in orange and black.

Ben Gulbranson, who joined the program in January 2020, is not listed on the roster for the upcoming spring practices according to a team source. Gulbranson’s departure was first reported by The Oregonian.

According to the report, Gulbranson is not in the transfer portal. The fifth-year quarterback just received a master’s degree and had previously talked about his intention to enroll in medical school when his football career was over. He took part in senior day ceremonies prior to the game against Washington State, but that was not viewed as confirmation of his plans.

The California native threw for 2,648 yards and 15 touchdowns while completing 62% of his passes in his Beavers’ career.
He started the final eight games of the 2022 season, with Oregon State going 7-1, which included a comeback win over Oregon in the final game of the regular season and a convincing win over Florida in the Las Vegas Bowl. He threw for 165 yards and touchdown, and added a rushing touchdown, as he was named the bowl’s most valuable player.
Gulbranson started three games this past season, including the dramatic 41-38 victory over Washington State. He threw for 948 yards and four touchdowns on the season.

Next year’s quarterback room will look much different than this past season, as Gulbranson joins Gevani McCoy and Dom Montiel as players no longer with the program. Both McCoy and Montiel are in the transfer portal.

Sophomore Gabarri Johnson and redshirt freshman Kallen Gutridge remain, along with the big splash of the offseason, Duke transfer Maalik Murphy.
