Breaking: Ohio State football players given eye-popping placement in ESPN rankings

Ohio State Football has become a prime destination for elite transfer athletes and five-star recruits, significantly contributing to the team’s status as a regular contender for the College Football Playoff (CFP).

Although the Buckeyes ranked No. 2 in the preseason AP Poll, they received limited recognition in ESPN’s latest college football player rankings. Despite having several players listed, Ohio State did not feature any in the top 10.

The first Buckeye to appear was Caleb Downs, ranked as the 11th-best player in college football. Following him were Emeka Egbuka at No. 28, Jack Sawyer at No. 33, and Quinshon Judkins at No. 34.

While many other Buckeyes made the top 100, the absence of any players in the top 10 was quite surprising.

Jeremiah Smith, the top overall recruit for the Class of 2024, did not make the list, although eight Buckeyes were recognized.

The breakdown included an even distribution of four players from the offense and four from the defense.
