UTSA Director of Track & Field/Cross Country Aaron Fox announced on Friday that incoming sophomore transfer Nyaluet Diew will join the Roadrunners’ throwing team for the 2024-25 season.
“We’re thrilled to welcome Nyaluet to our team and are eager to get started,” said Fox. “She has already demonstrated her capability to advance quickly at the Division I level, and we look forward to supporting her development both in the throwing ring and academically.”
Originally from South Sioux City, Nebraska, Diew competed during her 2023-24 rookie season at Arkansas State in Jonesboro. In her first outdoor conference meet, Diew finished eighth at the 2024 Sun Belt Outdoor Championships in the shot put, achieving a personal best of 14.92m (48-11.5)—the ninth-best mark in the history of ASU’s program. During the SBC Indoors, she also secured a 10th-place finish in the weight throw, reaching 16.28m (53-5) throughout the indoor season with the Red Wolves.
In high school, Diew was the runner-up in the NSAA Class B State Championships in shot put and captured titles in both the District B-4 and River Cities Conference Championships, accumulating five conference titles and three district titles during her prep career. She recorded a personal best in discus of 39.87m (130-10) and achieved 42.31m (138-10) in hammer throw last season. Additionally, she is the third member of her family to compete in track and field at the collegiate level.
