Breaking Now: St. Louis Blues Announces Major Training Camp Roster Changes

The St. Louis Blues made significant roster cuts on Sunday in preparation for the start of training camp for the Springfield Thunderbirds on Monday.

The Blues assigned 13 players to their AHL affiliate, including defensemen Jeremie Biakabutuka, Michael Buchinger, Marc-Andre Gaudet, Samuel Johannesson, Leo Loof, and Anton Malmstrom; goalies Will Cranley and Colten Ellis; and forwards Tanner Dickinson, Dalibor Dvorsky, Aleksanteri Kaskimaki, Dylan Peterson, and Marcus Sylvegard. Antoine Dorion, a seventh-round pick in the 2024 NHL Draft, was sent to his junior team in Quebec of the QMJHL.

This action reduces the training camp roster to 36 players, which includes injured 2024 first-round pick defenseman Adam Jiricek. Remaining in camp are forwards Zach Dean, Mackenzie MacEachern, Mathias Laferriere, and Hugh McGing; defensemen Corey Schueneman and Hunter Skinner; and goalie Vadim Zherenko. Forward Simon Robertsson (third round, 2021) is dealing with an upper-body injury and is listed as day-to-day.

Dvorsky, who scored 88 points (45 goals, 43 assists) with Sudbury in the Ontario Hockey League last season, was given a chance to make the NHL roster but will likely first play in the AHL. He did not register any points during three of the Blues’ first four preseason games.

The Blues, currently 1-3-0 in the preseason, will play at home on Tuesday against the Columbus Blue Jackets.
