“I Have a Close Relationship with Oregon Coaches”
The Oregon Ducks are pursuing five-star super talent., who is currently committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes. This wide receiver from Mater Dei High School recently visited Oregon, where he met with coach Dan Lanning and expressed his enthusiasm for the program. There’s a possibility that the five-star recruit might switch his commitment to Ohio State’s Big Ten rival, Oregon. Henry Jr. highlighted his strong connection with the Ducks’ coaching staff.
The No. 1 Oregon Ducks are intensifying their efforts to land one of the top talents in the 2026 recruiting class.
Chris Henry Jr., a five-star receiver currently committed to the Ohio State Buckeyes, is continuing to strengthen his ties with the Ducks. Oregon would certainly like to flip him from their new Big Ten rival. The Mater Dei standout recently visited Eugene during Oregon’s victory over the Maryland Terrapins and shared with On3 that the program is building “something special.”
“The atmosphere was crazy at the Maryland game,” Henry told On3. What keeps taking me back to Oregon is how close I am with the coaches and how they are doing something special there.”
Oregon wide receivers coach Junior Adams has also played a big part in getting the program to develop a connection with Henry Jr.
“I’m really close with coach Adams,” Henry told On3. “ … With him and how I love the culture there, my interest in Oregon is really high. Oregon will be one of my official visits.”
Chris Henry Jr. has been committed to the Buckeyes since July 2023, but his glowing remarks about the Ducks suggest that his commitment could soon change.
According to 247Sports’ player rankings, Henry Jr. is currently the No. 1 receiver in the 2026 class and the No. 3 overall player. He has also received offers from top programs, including Texas, Georgia, Notre Dame, Alabama, and Miami, among others.
Here’s a snippet from 247’s scouting report on Henry Jr. by national recruiting analyst Greg Biggins:
“Henry checks off every box you want to see in a next-level receiver,” Biggins noted. “Despite not playing a ‘premium’ position for the NFL Draft, he’s impressive enough to be considered as the top overall recruit in the ’26 class, similar to Jeremiah Smith in the ’24 class. Standing nearly 6-6 and weighing 195 pounds, Henry is among the longest receivers in the class, yet he possesses surprising agility and lateral quickness.”
If Chris Henry Jr. flips to the Ducks, he’d be joining a talented group that includes four-star players like offensive tackle Kodi Greene, defensive linemen Tony Cumberland and Tomuhini Topui, quarterback Jonas Williams, running back Tradarian Bell, defensive lineman Viliami Moala, and edge rusher Dutch Horisk. His addition would make him the highest-rated player for Oregon in the class.
No. 1 Oregon is set to kick off against the unranked Wisconsin Badgers on Saturday at 4:30 p.m. PT.
