Oscar Goodman, a 6-foot-7 forward from the NBA Global Academy, has pledged his commitment to Dusty May and the Michigan Wolverines, as reported by 247Sports. The New Zealand native chose Michigan over several major programs, including Texas Tech, Georgetown, and Ohio State.
I picked Michigan because of Coach May’s successful track record and his belief in my ability to contribute right away,” Goodman explained. “Michigan offers all the resources and opportunities I need to advance my basketball career.” He added, “Coach May and his staff are creating something special, and after conversing with some players during my visit, I sensed a shared desire to win. That culture was a key factor for me. I’m very grateful to all the programs that hosted me and my family during our visits, but I feel Michigan is the perfect fit for my growth.” Goodman is a prominent international recruit this cycle, having impressed with the NBA Academies and while representing New Zealand in the 2024 FIBA U17 World Cup, where he averaged 17.0 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 3.0 assists, shooting 47.3% from the field and 30.0% from three.
As a strong, versatile forward, Goodman can influence the game in multiple ways. He has a high basketball IQ, can handle the ball, stretch the floor, and rebound effectively. Perhaps his best skill is his passing. At 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds, Goodman is an agile athlete who can move well, making him a high-potential recruit ready to help May’s program in the future. “Michigan is also a prestigious academic institution, and I believe I’ll be in a supportive environment for my studies,” Goodman concluded. “All these factors made it the ideal place for me to develop as both a player and a person. I’m really excited for my next chapter with Michigan basketball!” Goodman is Michigan’s second commitment for the 2025 recruiting class, joining four-star wing Winters Grady.
