UNC Women’s Basketball Adds Another Top-100 Player to Its 2025 Recruiting Class: Coach Courtney Banghart and the UNC women’s basketball program are making significant strides in recruiting!
The latest addition to the 2025 recruiting class is Taissa Queiroz, a four-star player ranked No. 76 overall by ESPN HoopGurlz.
A forward from Brazil, Queiroz chose the Tar Heels over five other contenders: Kansas State, Utah, Washington, Colorado, and Gonzaga. She is now the third commitment for the UNC women’s basketball program from this class, joining five-star recruits Nyla Brooks and Taliyah Henderson.
Although she will officially join the team next fall, Queiroz plans to graduate high school early and enroll at North Carolina for the spring semester.
In an interview with Talia Goodman from On3, Queiroz shared what made the University of North Carolina stand out during her recruitment.
“My family and I had so much fun on the visit. I love the energy of coach [Courtney] Banghart. She’s an incredible woman, and I think she’s gonna help me a lot to develop as a player, but at the same time as a woman.
I think all of her assistant coaches and her staff, they showed me on the official visit, not just around me, but being around with the girls, that they are great people, and they just want the best for their players. It was wonderful for me. It was really great to be at UNC, and now I’ll be a part of the family.”
With three commits from the current class, it will be intriguing to see if the Tar Heels have any more surprises in store before this recruiting cycle concludes. Given the current lineup, this class has the potential to be one of the best recruiting classes in the nation.
