North College Hill’s football game against Woodward was abruptly stopped on Friday night after gunshots were fired nearby for the second time this month.
Eugene Blalock Jr., the superintendent of North College Hill, confirmed that shots were fired outside the stadium, leading to the game’s termination.
A spokesperson from Cincinnati Public Schools reported that a football player from Woodward Career Technical High School was injured in the shooting, although the player’s condition remains unclear.
“Cincinnati Public Schools recognizes this tragic event, and our support remains with the student, their family, friends, and school community. CPS’ Crisis Response Team will be on-site to assist students as they return to school on Tuesday,” stated a CPS announcement.
This incident occurred two weeks after gunshots were fired near the stadium during a game against Cincinnati Country Day on Sept. 6, which did not result in any injuries.
Blalock also mentioned that Friday’s game will be the last played at North College Hill’s football stadium this season.
