Before the blue-chip recruit committed to the Hurricanes, the Seminoles were in the race for him.
Thanks to its impressive recruiting haul over the past seven days, Florida State has gained national notice. Though it seems unlikely that the Seminoles will sign every desired talent, they are assembling the components of another top-15 class.
The commitment to Miami over FSU was made public on social media on Monday by four-star linebacker Gavin Nix. Following his official visit to Tallahassee at the end of June, Nix was among the names near the top of the linebacker register.
Two times this year, including last weekend, the Florida native has visited the school. Miami and Oregon were among the official trips he made.
For the Hurricanes, this is undoubtedly a great addition, but Florida State shouldn’t be too concerned. Four-star prospect Tavion Wallace is expected to make an announcement tomorrow between the Seminoles, Georgia, Florida, Arkansas, and South Carolina. The Seminoles also have four-star recruit Ethan Pritchard committed. TJ Alford is a promise to Ohio State, and the coaching staff is still researching him thoroughly.
At IMG Academy, Nix completed his junior year with 42 tackles, seven tackles for loss, and one sack.
Ranked No. 88 overall, No. 11 LB, and No. 15 recruit in Florida for the 2025 class, the 6-foot-0, 225-pound linebacker is projected by 247Sports.
Currently ranked No. 36 in the nation, Florida State boasts nine verbal commitments in #Tribe25. In the last few weeks, the Seminoles have more than quadrupled its class with the addition of four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn, four-star defensive back Zae Thomas, four-star tight end Chase Loftin, four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles, and four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley.
