VCU fans, get ready to welcome another Ram! Three-star center Silas Barksdale has officially committed to VCU, choosing the Rams over Virginia Tech, Butler, and Miami. He is VCU head coach Ryan Odom‘s first commitment for the 2025 class.
The 6-foot-8 player from Woodside, Virginia, has shone on the AAU circuit with Boo Williams, where he is eager to make his impact at the collegiate level. Barksdale excelled at Peach Jam, averaging a double-double with 10.0 points and 11.6 rebounds per game, facing elite teams with a combined 50-25 record in the EYBL regular season. His strong back-to-the-basket play, mid-range shooting, and impressive rebounding skills make him a significant asset for the Rams.
Barksdale’s choice to join VCU was driven by the genuine connection he felt with the coaching staff and their faith in his skills. “Coach Odom is a great coach,” Barksdale said. “He just let me know I’m going to be able to play my own game and just have fun.”
With Barksdale on board, VCU is laying a strong foundation for the future. The Rams are also targeting top prospects like Chance Mallory, Jake West, and Matt Gilhool. Exciting times are ahead as VCU works to elevate its basketball program!
