Breaking News: Notre Dame football super talents makes bold NFL Combine decision

As several Notre Dame football players start checking into the NFL Combine this week, there is at least one former Irish player who is pretty confident his game speaks for itself. That’s why Xavier Watts has decided that while he is in Indianapolis, he won’t be working out.

Instead, the former Fighting Irish star is checking in just to talk to NFL teams and let front offices know his thinking as he gets ready to go to the next leve. The move is an interesting one but also a smart one.

The former Notre Dame football star probably can’t do anything in the 40-yard dash or the other physical trials that will help his NFL Draft status. In fact, it would seem his performance in the NFL Combine could only hurt him.

Notre Dame football star won’t work out at NFL combine

Watts is claiming the same reason he’s skipping the physical trials is the reason he skipped the Senior Bowl.

With the Irish season stretching into 2025, Watts wants to make sure that he’s fully rested and ready to go. It’s not that he’s refusing to show what he can do on the field, he’s just going to make sure he’s 100% before he shows the NFL teams what he can do.

The former Notre Dame football star said on Thursday that instead of working out at the NFL Combine, he’ll be doing more physical trials during the Irish pro day later this spring. For now, he’ll just take in the sights and have conversations with various front offices.
