BREAKING NEWS: Huskies Land Transfer Defensive Talented Lineman

Greetings once more, Husky enthusiasts. The University of Washington received positive updates as DeShawn Lynch, a defensive lineman from Sacramento State, committed to UW following his official visit this past weekend. Lynch, who has two years of eligibility left, adds depth to the team’s defensive line.

Lynch, standing at 6’5” and weighing approximately 280 pounds, was a key player for Sacramento State last season, starting in 13 games as a defensive end. He recorded 34 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss (TFLs), and 4.5 sacks. Lynch showcased his effectiveness by leading the team with 26 quarterback pressures in 223 pass rush snaps. After redshirting in 2021, he transitioned from a reserve role in 2022 to a reliable starter in the previous season.

The Huskies have been actively seeking impact players through the transfer portal, and Lynch emerges as a promising addition to their defensive line. His versatility allows him to line up on the outside or potentially bulk up to play on the interior line. Despite being rated as a three-star defensive end out of Folsom HS, CA, Lynch received offers from prominent programs like Oregon, Nebraska, Oregon State, USC, and Tennessee. Opting to delay his commitment until after the early recruiting period in his class, Lynch eventually found his way to Sacramento State.

Currently, Washington’s defensive front features only three seniors, including Montana State transfer Sebastian Valdez, along with Jacob Bandes and Voi Tunuufi. Lynch’s arrival bolsters the Huskies’ defensive depth, providing another dynamic defender who can make immediate contributions this season and potentially assume a more significant role in the following year.
