Russell Wilson will be switching teams as he prepares to join the Pittsburgh Steelers on a contract that is deemed favorable for the team by ESPN’s Adam Schefter. Despite this move, the Denver Broncos, Wilson’s previous team, will still be responsible for around 1.2 million against their cap, making him a steal no matter his performance.

Wilson’s choice comes shortly after discussions with both the Steelers and New York Giants regarding possible opportunities. Now, he is set to join the Pittsburgh team, which is emerging from a 10-7 season marked by inconsistent quarterback play from Kenny Pickett, Mitchell Trubisky, and Mason Rudolph.
It appears that Wilson will vie for the starting position with the Steelers’ 2022 first-round draft pick. Last season, Pickett had a record of 7-5, passing for 2,070 yards with six touchdowns and four interceptions in 13 starts before his season was cut short due to ankle surgery after Week 12.
In contrast, Wilson is coming off a successful season, throwing for 3,070 yards with 26 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Despite his achievements, the Broncos decided to part ways with him after a 7-8 record as their starter.
The Steelers are scheduled to face the Broncos in 2024, but it remains uncertain whether Wilson will be the starter by then.
On a lighter note, Wilson will no longer be tormenting his new head coach, Mike Tomlin. In the two games Wilson has played against Tomlin, he boasts a perfect 2-0 record with 645 passing yards, eight touchdowns, no interceptions, and an impressive 147.1 passer rating.
For the record, Wilson seems incredibly enthusiastic about joining the AFC North. Following the news of his deal with the Steelers, he shared a motivational video featuring “Renegade” by Styx as the soundtrack.
