The Brisbane Broncos have announced that Adam Reynolds has sustained only a minor hamstring injury, while outside back Deine Mariner will be sidelined for several weeks.
Reynolds was absent from the second half of Brisbane’s Thursday night match against the Melbourne Storm, leaving the field in distress due to a hamstring injury.
Initial concerns suggested that the injury was severe, raising the possibility of an extended absence. However, Brisbane has now provided an update indicating that scans have revealed only a minor hamstring strain.
“Adam underwent scans at the Qscan Clive Berghofer Facility in Brisbane today, which revealed a minor hamstring strain. We will monitor his progress in the coming days before he embarks on a rehabilitation program,” stated Dave Ballard, Brisbane’s head of performance, confirming the news.
This means that Reynolds may be available for the upcoming derby against the Dolphins next weekend, although he could still miss one or two weeks.
Brisbane is expected to proceed cautiously with their experienced halfback early in the season as hamstring strains are known for their challenging recovery process.
On the other hand, Brisbane has verified that Mariner has sustained a back fracture, which is likely to keep him out of action for approximately three to four weeks.
“After being scanned in Melbourne post-game, Deine’s back injury was diagnosed as a transverse process fracture. Players with similar injuries have typically returned to play within 3-4 weeks, so monitoring Deine’s recovery rate will be crucial,” expressed Ballard.
This injury could pave the way for Corey Oates to secure a spot in Brisbane’s starting lineup on the wing for the upcoming weeks. However, the Broncos may explore alternative options as Oates has recently been utilized in the forward positions off the bench during Brendan Piakura’s absence.
