Breaking News: Blue Jackets GM Don Waddell Makes Major Announcement Ahead of Fixture

The forward has been loaned to the Cleveland Monsters, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Columbus Blue Jackets. Today, the club’s President of Hockey Operations and General Manager, Don Waddell, announced that the team has activated a player off Injured Reserve and simultaneously loaned him to the Monsters.

This 20-year-old player missed the first 15 games of the 2024-25 season due to a broken finger sustained during a preseason game against St. Louis on October 1. He made his NHL debut in the team’s season finale on April 16 against Carolina. A native of Fort Myers, Florida, he was drafted by Columbus in the second round, 34th overall, at the 2023 NHL Draft.

Standing at 5-foot-8 and weighing 173 pounds, he had an impressive collegiate career at the University of Michigan from 2022 to 2024, recording 37 goals and 54 assists for a total of 91 points over 81 games. In the 2023-24 season, he earned NCAA First All-American Team honors and was named the Big Ten Player of the Year, ranking among the NCAA leaders in goals, points, and points per game.

Columbus is set to return to the ice on Friday, facing the Pittsburgh Penguins at Nationwide Arena, with the game starting at 7 p.m. ET. Live coverage will begin on FanDuel Sports Network with the Blue Jackets Live pre-game show at 6:30 p.m. ET, and fans can also tune in via the Blue Jackets Radio Network, including 93.3 FM The Bus in Columbus, or online at BlueJackets.com.
