BREAKING: NC State Electrifying Playmarker wins the Chuck Bednarik Award

NC State linebacker  won the Chuck Bednarik Award last fall, which is given to the top defensive player in college football. Now, the Wolfpack has an opportunity to keep the trophy in Raleigh.

On Monday, graduate defensive end Davin Vann was named to the Bednarik Award Watch List, aiming to become the second player from NC State to receive the honor.

While Wilson was a standout talent last year, Vann has the chance to build on his previous performance. The Cary, N.C. native has recorded 103 tackles and 14 sacks over 43 games with the Wolfpack, including a personal best of 42 tackles and 5.5 sacks last season.

Vann, who wears the No. 1 jersey to signify his leadership, aims to replicate Wilson’s contributions both on and off the field in terms of performance and guidance. While the award focuses on defensive statistics, Vann has the chance to solidify his legacy much like Wilson did.

The Bednarik Award will announce its semifinalists on November 12, with the finalists to be revealed on November 26. The winner will be announced during ESPN’s Home Depot College Football Awards Show on December 12.
