Breaking: Mississippi State commit receives USC Trojans offer, planning visit

Steve Miller, a three-star safety from Greene County, Georgia, has been committed to the Mississippi State Bulldogs since June. However, that hasn’t deterred several schools from trying to change his mind. The 6-foot-2, 185-pound defensive back has mostly felt content with his choice, but his stance may have shifted this week following a scholarship offer from the USC Trojans.

“It came out of nowhere, really, and my interest in them is very high,” Miller said. “I definitely plan to visit.”

He received the offer during a phone call that has him reconsidering his options. “Director of Player Personnel Weston Zernechel reached out to me this morning unexpectedly and mentioned they would call me later,” Miller explained. “That’s when they extended the offer, and it felt like a significant blessing. Southern California means a lot to me.”

Although Miller hasn’t officially scheduled a visit yet, he is tentatively planning to travel to Los Angeles on October 12 for the game against Penn State. Despite receiving offers from schools like Arkansas, Maryland, North Carolina State, Oregon State, Tennessee, and West Virginia, Miller has not shown much interest in visiting other programs at this time.

“There are a few schools that want me to come, but I haven’t confirmed any visits yet,” Miller stated. USC stands out to him, and it’s clear they are a program to watch now that they have extended an offer.
