BREAKING: Mike Trout answers whether he would request trade from Angels

Mike Trout doesn’t want trade, pushing for Angels to sign star free agent

The Los Angeles Angels have not fielded a strong team for a while, leading to speculations about whether Mike Trout would seek a trade to play for a more competitive team. While Trout is not currently considering such a move, the possibility is not completely off the table according to the three-time AL MVP.

During a press conference on Monday, Trout discussed the Angels’ current situation. He highlighted that he considers requesting a trade as a “quick fix” but acknowledged that he may contemplate it in the future.

Trout emphasized his commitment to the team, stating that when he signed his contract, his loyalty was to the Angels. He expressed his desire to achieve a championship with the team and indicated that the satisfaction of winning a title or making the playoffs with the Angels outweighs the temptation to take the easy way out. While he hasn’t dwelled on the idea extensively, Trout hinted that circumstances may change down the line.

Trout also candidly mentioned that he has been urging Angels owner Arte Moreno and president John Carpino to make further acquisitions in free agency.

The Angels expectedly saw Shohei Ohtani depart this offseason. Subsequently, they have executed some transactions that do not particularly thrill their fans, a sentiment likely shared by Trout.

Trout has experienced the postseason just once during his 13-year MLB career, back in 2014 when the Angels were swept in the ALDS by the Kansas City Royals. While the Angels have asserted their dedication to Trout, the 32-year-old will inevitably grow more frustrated if the team fails to compete in 2024.
