The Miami Dolphins have promoted former Detroit Lions quarterback Tim Boyle from their practice squad to the main roster.
Boyle joined the Dolphins after being released by the Houston Texans and signing with Miami’s practice squad before the regular season. Since then, he has fluctuated between the practice squad and the 53-man roster as the Dolphins manage their quarterbacks with Tua Tagovailoa sidelined.
Tyler Huntley has stepped in as the starter in recent weeks, while Skylar Thompson is considered questionable for the upcoming weekend. Last year, Boyle started two games for the New York Jets, throwing for 360 yards, one touchdown, and four interceptions. During his time with Detroit, he started three games in the 2021 season, accumulating 526 yards, three touchdowns, and six interceptions in three losses. He was on the team’s practice squad for the 2022 season before being picked up by a divisional rival in November.
In addition to his stints with the Lions, Jets, and Texans, Boyle has also played for the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears.
