Breaking: Mark Pope Announces Another Big News Of A Massive commitment For The Kentucky State Spartan!
Mark Pope has been actively working to shape the Kentucky Wildcats into their best form for the 2025-26 season.
He has recently recruited five new players, each bringing unique skills to the team. The most recent addition is former Florida guard Denzel Aberdeen, who won a National Championship with the Gators before deciding to enter the transfer portal.

“These past three years at the University of Florida have been nothing short of amazing. I’m truly grateful to have worn the orange and blue and to represent Gator Nation with pride,” Aberdeen shared on social media. “To my brothers — my teammates — I love y’all. We made history together, and those memories will stay with me forever. I’m honored to have been part of something so special.”
Aberdeen served as Florida’s backup point guard last season and played a key role in their March Madness journey. He was likely anticipating a starting position in 2025 until Florida brought in Princeton point guard Xaivian Lee from the transfer portal.
Now, Aberdeen is set to become an important piece of Pope’s strategy at Kentucky.

He averaged 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 1.4 assists in 19.7 minutes per game while serving as Florida’s sixth man. During March Madness, he scored 12 points on 5-of-7 shooting in Florida’s Sweet 16 victory over Maryland. In the National Championship game, he contributed seven points and two rebounds off the bench.
It will be intriguing to see how Aberdeen’s skills translate to a larger role, which he will surely be seeking at Tennessee. Nonetheless, as a seasoned guard with championship experience, he will bring significant value to Kentucky in 2025.
Hailing from Orlando, Florida, Aberdeen was ranked as the No. 22 combo guard in the 2022 class.
Other notable transfers brought in by Pope include former ASU freshman Jayden Quaintance, who earned spots on the Big 12 Conference All-Freshman and All-Defensive teams, and former Pitt standout Jaland Lowe.
Kentucky’s transfers are currently ranked fourth in the nation.
