Josh Jacobs made a revealing statement about his departure from the Las Vegas Raiders
Josh Jacobs shocked a lot of people when he decided to move from the Las Vegas Raiders to the Green Bay Packers this offseason. The Packers are known for mainly building their team through the draft rather than making significant moves in free agency.
During a recent interview, Jacobs revealed his reasons for departing from the Raiders.
An analyst, Dov Kleiman, shared a clip from a podcast in which Jacobs discussed his initial frustrations with the Raiders. He referenced his experience at Alabama, where he had gone to the championship every year. Jacobs recounted feeling disheartened after losing his first NFL game and being advised by a veteran to simply embrace losing in the NFL, a notion he struggled to come to terms with.
Jacobs stressed the effort he and his team invested and conveyed regret over the lack of positive outcomes. He raised doubts about the possibility of rejoining the Raiders for a lower salary if the team was not achieving victories.
The Packers presented Jacobs with a lucrative deal: a four-year contract worth $48 million, a considerable sum especially for a running back.
By parting ways with Aaron Jones in free agency and recruiting Jacobs, the Packers demonstrate their confidence in his ability to guide their rushing offense for the long term, aiming to advance the team’s performance following a playoff victory with Jordan Love as the starting quarterback last season.
