BREAKING: Iowa football 2025 DL target Christian Hudson commits to UCF.

Up until the very end, the Iowa Hawkeyes were competing with Iowa State, Maryland, and UCF for Christian Hudson, a defensive lineman projected for the class of 2025.

However, Hudson declared his allegiance to UCF on Saturday night. The 290-pound, 6-foot-2 defensive lineman from Daytona Beach, Florida’s Mainland High School decided to remain local.

ESPN rates Hudson as a four-star recruit. Hudson is ranked No. 22 defensive lineman, No. 37 player in the state of Florida, and No. 281 overall in the US by ESPN.

Hudson is ranked No. 39 defensive lineman, No. 44 player in Florida, and a three-star recruit by 247Sports. Hudson is rated as a three-star commit by Rivals as well. Hudson is ranked as the No. 64 player from the Sunshine State, the No. 53 defensive lineman, and the No. 484th player in the country overall in the 247Sports composite rankings.

On July 21, Hudson had attended the Hawkeyes’ major official visit weekend. Hudson finished the 2018 campaign with 70 tackles, 27 tackles for loss, nine sacks, and one forced fumble, according to 247Sports.

In their 2025 recruiting class, Iowa has committed one defensive lineman. On June 25, Brad Fitzgibbon declared his commitment to the Hawkeyes.

Fitzgibbon was considered a three-star pledge at the time of his commitment. Fitzgibbon was ranked No. 13 overall by On3 and as the 61st defensive lineman in the US. Fitzgibbon was listed by 247Sports as the No. 23 player from Illinois and the No. 92 defensive lineman.
