BREAKING: “Huge Boost” as purdue Five Star Defensive Back, Reclassifies to 2024

Earlier today, shortly after 11:00 AM Eastern Standard Time, Head Coach Ryan Walters posted a mysterious message on Twitter.

An hour later, that tweet turned into some of the best recruiting news Purdue has received… ever ?

The 29th-ranked player in the 2025 class and the 5th overall-ranked cornerback had initially committed verbally to Purdue. Instead of waiting until January, he has decided to reclassify and join the Boilermakers immediately.

Already listed in the Purdue Directory, this rapid progression is remarkable.

Standing at 6-4 and weighing 180 pounds, this cornerback is poised to make an immediate impact as a starter in a secondary that is in need of reinforcement. With Grant and Thieneman leading the way, Purdue boasts two of the most promising young defensive backs in the Big Ten, both with potential NFL futures.

Tarrion, rated as a 5-star cornerback by On3, was not anticipated to play for Siegel High School this fall. Originally part of the 2024 class, he reclassified to 2025 before seizing the chance to enroll at Purdue this summer.

Anticipate high expectations for one of Purdue’s top football recruits in history. He is expected to feature prominently in Walters’ defensive scheme, showcasing his length and athleticism.

While it’s uncommon to start a freshman defensive back in Power-5 Football, especially at cornerback, Grant’s talent demands playing time this season.

An impressive aspect of Tarrion’s journey is his relatively recent introduction to football as a high school freshman, indicating his vast untapped potential. Tarrion and Thieneman are poised to form a formidable duo in Purdue’s secondary this upcoming season.
