Ole Miss women’s basketball continues its preparations for the 2024-25 season, as head coach Yolett McPhee-McCuin announced the signing of Sophia Jite Gbemuotor from Delta State, Nigeria, on Tuesday.

“Sophia has elevated our roster instantly. She is a dynamic forward that can score at all 3 levels,” said McPhee-McCuin. “We are excited about her joining the team this fall and look forward to seeing her adapt to Ole Miss and the SEC!”

Known as Jet, Gbemuotor grew up in Slovenia and competed on the national circuit for several years. She was a standout rebounding player at the 2022 FIBA U18 Women’s European Championship in Bulgaria, helping Slovenia secure the title while averaging 5.7 rebounds across three games.
