Breaking: Gonzaga’s Kraziness in the Kennel set to stream and air on SWX this October

SPOKANE, Wash. — The college basketball season is only 11 weeks away, and Gonzaga University fans will have their first opportunity to see the 2024-25 Gonzaga Bulldogs this October during the annual scrimmage known as Kraziness in the Kennel. If you can’t attend the event at McCarthey Athletic Center on Saturday, Oct. 5, it will be livestreamed on SWXLocalSports.com starting at 3 p.m., and will also air on SWX after the Idaho Vandals vs. Northern Arizona game, around 5 p.m.

Numerica Kraziness in the Kennel will again be free, but tickets are required. Gonzaga students can claim their tickets from Sept. 27-30, while the general public can obtain theirs starting at noon on Oct. 2, with a limit of two tickets per account.

The 2024-25 Bulldogs feature one of the most talented rosters in the nation, reflected in the preseason rankings. ESPN’s “Way-Too-Early Top 25” lists the Zags as the fifth-best team, with most other sources placing them in the top 10 alongside teams like Alabama, Duke, Kansas, UConn, Houston, and Baylor.

Aside from Anton Watson, Gonzaga will retain all its key players from last season’s squad, which advanced to the Sweet 16 in the NCAA Tournament before losing to the eventual national champion, Purdue.

Key returning players include Graham Ike (16.5 points per game), Nolan Hickman (14.0), Ryan Nembhard (12.6), Braden Huff (9.3), Ben Gregg (9.0), Dusty Stromer (4.8), and Steele Venters (returning from injury, former Big Sky MVP).

Head Coach Mark Few and his staff have also made significant additions through the transfer portal, including Michael Ajayi from Pepperdine and Khalif Battle from Arkansas. Additionally, they recruited 7-footer Ismaila Diagne from Nguekhokhe, Senegal, among others expected to make a larger impact in future seasons.

Kraziness in the Kennel will include a skills competition before the Zags scrimmage in front of what is anticipated to be a sold-out crowd.

The event will be livestreamed on SWXLocalSports.com at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 5, and will be broadcast on tape delay on SWX around 5 p.m. after the Idaho Vandals game, which starts at 2 p.m.
