BREAKING: Georgia Tight End Commits to Unexpected Program during Official Visit

Georgia native Tucker Kelleher made his commitment to BYU during his official visit to the campus. A tight end, Kelleher was among the many official visitors in Provo over the weekend. His offer from BYU, extended just two weeks prior, swiftly led to his decision to end his recruitment and commit to Kevin Gilbride, the new tight ends coach at BYU.

Notably, BYU was the first “Power Four” school to offer Kelleher a scholarship, as his other offers all came from the G5 ranks, including schools such as App State, Army, Buffalo, Coastal Carolina, Florida Atlantic, Eastern Michigan, Georgia State, James Madison, Marshall, Middle Tennessee State, Navy, Temple, and Toledo. Kelleher’s physical attributes, standing at 6’5.5 and weighing 220 pounds, complement his diverse skill set as a tight end, unafraid to both block and contribute as a receiving player.

This marks the second recruitment success in Georgia for BYU, following the commitment of native Atlantan Tre Alexander in the previous recruiting class, reflecting the effective efforts of Kelly Poppinga, who had pledged to focus on recruiting in the Peach State.

During the same week, two other tight ends, Stevie Amar from California and BYU commit Blake Bryce, also partook in official visits to BYU. Amar, who had already visited Arizona State, Boston College, and Cal, was set to visit Baylor next.

As a legacy recruit, Bryce’s decision to commit to BYU over several other notable programs underscores his value as a versatile athlete, potentially playing on either offense or defense for BYU with his imposing 6’5, 225-pound frame. Notably, Bryce was the first prospect to commit to coach Kevin Gilbride as the new tight ends coach at BYU.
